Supporting Operational Readiness: Equipment Training for the Australian Army
Our team recently delivered comprehensive training to the Australian Army on the operation of our Front-End Equipment (FEE) integrated on their newly delivered Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEVs).
During our five-week visit to Australia, the Sappers were trained on a variety of FEE including our Full Width Mine Plough, Combat Dozer Blade and Excavator Manipulator Arm at the School of Armour (SoARMD). We also delivered a Field Level Maintainer New Equipment (FMNET) course to our contractors and a group of Army personnel at the Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (ASEME).
Our Senior Engineer and Training Lead of the programme said: “It was a privilege to engage directly with those responsible for maintaining the equipment, as well as the individuals who will carry the training forward. Some of the students we worked with will go on to deliver these training packages to wider personnel.
Being involved in training alongside both operators and maintainers, provides us with valuable insight into how our equipment is used in real-world conditions. This direct feedback is essential for continuous improvement and helps us enhance the design and functionality of future products.”
Corporal Liam Kelly, one of the sappers training on the CEVs, said it was a “game changer” and added, “I think the new CEV is a great capability. It’s definitely going to increase our ability to perform breaching operations, and it’s also going to greatly increase the capacity at which we can provide that mobility support to our friendly forces and get them to move around the battle space.
“Being able to do it under armour, obviously, you’re a lot more defended. It’s going to take less soldiers in the breach, which is what you want.”
